All validation is performed entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server. SSNs you enter are never stored, logged, or transmitted. This tool only checks format — it cannot verify whether an SSN belongs to a real person.
Never share your SSN
Your Social Security Number is sensitive personal information. Never enter it on untrusted websites, send it via email, or store it in unencrypted files. Identity theft is a serious risk.
SSN validation rules are based on SSA publication Pub. No. 05-10602. Since June 25, 2011, the SSA uses randomized assignment — area numbers no longer indicate geographic origin for new SSNs.
This tool does not verify SSNs against SSA records and should not be used for identity verification purposes.
